Historically, AFIF and IATA have been able to order large quantities of neutral paper airway bills (NAWB) on behalf of the cargo agent community thus keeping the unit price of the paper airway bill very low, while offering a very convenient "pay as you go" process.
Due to a dramatic decline in demand for neutral paper airway bills, the printing provider has recently informed us that this business model is no longer sustainable.
We would, however, like to continue with one final bulk order, albeit under new terms and conditions. We invite forwarders to place an order with IATA covering your future (12 months) requirements, by 12 April 2013. The order will be billed in its entirety with the CASS billing period 08-2013. You will need to take delivery of the entire annual stock once your order is confirmed and printed.
Moving forward, with the progressive introduction of electronic AWB's, AFIF and IATA will no longer be in a position to support the coordination, production and distribution of paper neutral AWB's and cargo agents will be required to make their own arrangements, either migrating to laser printed AWB's or eventually to e-AWB.
